The match took place on 21st October 1999 at 3:40 p.m. The
conditions of the playing field were cold, damp, rainy and soggy underfoot. Our
football captain was Edward Robinson from Yr6. We are proud to have two girls in
our team named Victoria Wilton in Yr6 and Sara Allen in Yr5. Before the match
the team felt fairly confident with a ‘Can do’ attitude.
The game was interesting in lots of different ways. There were various
corners with unexpected outcomes. At one point we could have scored and been
only 3-1 down but the cross went to far out and got taken by a St. Augustine’s
R.C defender and passed on to another of their players. Everyone was trying to
get possession of the ball and doing their very best at any thing that faced any
individual player. There were no fouls or injuries and only one slide tackle in
the whole game.
All
the Players played very well and as it was our first game of the season we did
very well. In the second half we scored our only goal with a great team effort.
The goal was scored by our attack named Charlie Large in Yr6. The final score
was 9-1 to St. Augustine’s R.C.
I interviewed the Bidborough team captain Edward Robinson from Yr6 and this
is what he said: "St. Augustines are a very good team and showed that in
the game we played. Every individual showed great skill in whatever they did
with full confidence and working as a team."
